I just (finally) got around to watching Sucker Punch. Why does everyone hate that movie?

Cut for anyone still wanting to see that movie. )

moving pictures, real life, meta is a nice word for fangirling

I liked it and thought it had substance. Substance that was encased in a sugary sweet hard candy shell, but substance nonetheless.

Exactly my thoughts. If you take the shiny, half-naked women away, there's a solid idea behind it.

I liked it. I thought the idea of everything being hidden behind a self-preservative fantasy was very clever.

My web friends just have better taste than most real life people I know.

When I saw the pure triple-distilled awesomeness of the trailers, I knew that there was no way that the movie could live up to their promise.

I was right.

well, no, the trailer was just a firework of CGI. But if you forget about the trailer and just look at the movie itself, it wasn't bad. Deeper, actually, than most movies with a lot of half naked women and stuff blowing up, yeah?

I can't watch the movie. Life is depressing enough and I watch movies to be taken somewhere where there is hope. I won't watch movies where there isn't a happy-ish ending for the protagonist.

Then watch the deleted end scene I linked in the ETA because there you get your semi-hopeful. ;)

But I get it. I like watching depressing things, generally, but there comes a point where I have to put them down and rewatch St. Trinian's or start sobbing in my pillow.
