I'm watching 24 season three with azrhey here, and I have this to say: they have a pretty damned sweet workstation OS and network infrastructure.

tech, television

Haha! You're onto Season 3 already?!

I'm surprised you mention the technology on the show in a positive way - isn't a lot of it fabricated?

Well, we have a kind of semi-permanent marathon going on around here, where we watch a few episodes a day. And on the weekends, well, all bets are off! :-P

Sure, it's all fabricated, but it doesn't sound too crappy, doesn't look too horrible, and generally makes me wish it wasn't fabricated. A simple example that comes up frequently is how they "send it to my screen", with seemingly anything, be it text, video or what-not. The best I can come up, even when I have 100% control of all the computers and networks involved, is more or less sending an web site URI to someone over IM. And that's pretty shoddy.

Some parts are pretty painful, though, it's true. When they talk about crypto (and they do a lot), it hurts a lot.

Ah, good 'ol HollywoodOS. So fake, so cheesy :P But some of the things they fabricate are kinda cool. I always thought it was cool how much crap he could do with his PDA. I have a treo 650, and let me tell you, it does *not* do all that stuff :P
