The electric commuter train on the Two-Mountains line has secret electrical outlets under every third or fourth seat. I wouldn't even know about them if I hadn't seen someone with their laptop plugged into one.

Have you made a thorough search of the commuter train you ride?

I have not, I'll check it out tonight. Although, technically, I'm wouldn't be supposed to let it draw power from the battery, and sleeping does draw some power (runs out in something like two weeks, if I'm not mistaken).

I might install Linux on azrhey smaller laptop and steal it from her or something. ;-)

After reading this post, I thought I better check the serial number of my PowerBook G4 battery. I had heard about the Dell recall, but had no idea Apple computers were affected as well.

As it turns out, my battery is also on the list of "might explode at any time". I'm so pissed!

But thanks for mentioning it. :(

Oh well...

From what I understood, you can leave the battery in it and use the laptop, but it has to be always connected to wall power. Sleeping would counts as using it, annoyingly enough.

You may wish to remove the link to your your defunct Advogato diary from your LJ userinfo page (or at least mention the fact that it's merely an archive at this point).
