There are other Annapurnas in the lives of men

Following a conversation with steerpikelet last night, I think it's time I blogged about Annapurna. It's a massif in the Himalayas, the highest peak of which was the first 8000m mountain to be climbed, by a group of French mountaineers led by Maurice Herzog in 1950. My sister spent her gap year in the shadow of Annapurna. If I remember correctly. If that is relevant.

This has got to be my naughtiest LJ day ever. I'll have to block it from my office computer at this rate.

Hmmm, maybe I should do that... interesting about your sister, definitely.

Wanna wanna wanna wanna go to Nepal*. And New Zealand. And South America. And Antarctica...

* Does anyone know how much trouble the Maoist insurgency is causing at the moment?
