a good relationship with a good constituency MP is not something to be sniffed at. Sometimes voting for the guy who'll fight your corner is a good plan.
Speaking as someone whose parents have a damn good constituency MP, who has helped us out more times than I can count. He may be a dull backbencher who rarely says anything of note in Parliament, but he can sure as hell kick up a stink behind the scenes when people need help.
Sadly, he will probably lose his seat this year, as it's a semi-marginal and he's Labour...
