I don't know ... Restless was a nice way to finish season 4, but I didn't really take away anything from it. It's still the weakest Buffy season finale IMHO.
I think Grave was the weakest season finale. But I also don't really look at it as a season finale, because it is more of an epilogue to season 4 than a real finale.
I must admit that I didn't really get into "Restless" when first watching it (well, I have only watched it once so far (SURPRISE?)), which doesn't mean that I thought it was bad. Not at all, I thought it was really interesting, but it was hard to grasp since the story-telling is so different than from the other episodes. It really seems to be one of those episodes that makes a rewatch seem like a good idea.
(Which reminds me that my "rewatch" really worked out great.)
I'm not even sure if I get "Restless" now, but I'm profoundly fascinated by the episode in a strange way. That's why I watched it so many times and if I feel like watching a random Buffy episode just for fun, then it's pretty much the first episode that I think of, because while it works well within the context of the series, it's also an episode that works well on its own.
The episode is really unique and unusual in its own way. I like it when writers experiment with your expectations and their own.
