Divergent timelines aside - who among you know of Gaius Julius Caesar?

[In one of his rare moments of sociability, Godric has quitted the confines of his room and taken up temporary residence in the library. He's seated at one of the tables, with a copy of Commentarii de Bello Gallico smoothed flat in front of him.]

*tanvir, omnia gallia in tres partes divisa est, subtle like vampire politics to the face, we named the dog godric, sociopoliticalpire, god hates fangs, *marco, would have liked to eat julius caesar, i will rise up, it belongs in a museum!1!! (so do you), *lucifer, *kimiko, *alice

Fun guy, like most Romans.

[ before they became Christians, that's it ]

Had you personal exposure to him, then?

[Sigh, Christians. Get off the collective lawn of the old guys, right?]

Not really personal, I just used to hang around Rome a lot and he was one of those people you just couldn't miss.

He was that.

[Hullo, monotone! Fancy meeting you here.]

I've a question, if you would permit.

I'm familiar with what they taught us in school about him. Which is probably not much use to you, really.

It's a query of idle curiosity, rather than a desire for information.

I figured it probably was, or else I wouldn't have replied.

*That might be a joking tone. Its hard to tell. Marco may just be adapting similar unreadable tones when talking to Godric*

Hm.

[And that may or may not be acknowledgment of that possibly-joking tone. Monotony is bad for your health, Marco, didn't you know?]

You've been well?

Fere libenter homines id quod volunt credunt.

[Her accent is impeccable. Anything worth doing is worth doing right, eh?]

Other than history books and Shakespear, it's all heresay. Heck, even those aren't very reliable observations.

Would still have been a goal of my Time Machine, though.

What's next, history lessons?

Not lessons, no.

What brought this up? Is that where you're from, then, Rome?

Gaul.

[Which, if Kim knows anything about the Gallic Wars, basically just gave away his entire, vaguely emo-tastic past.]
