It's presidential campaign primary season, of course, so much of the idle chatter here and there is turning political. I know someone from New York state who absolutely adores Hillary Clinton, and (without knowing my own leanings), she accused women who do not support Ms. Clinton as being biased against the whole idea of a female president, either ( Read more... )

Seriously. She's got blood on her hands, and has been unrepentant about the war. Pff.

Amen. Though moot.

The whole thing reminds me of one of the best-ever episodes of Will and Grace. Will was campaigning for "the gay guy" running for city council, and Grace supported his fight until she found out that "a jewish woman" was running against the gay guy. They argued over these two candidates (neither of them knowing the first thing about the candidates platforms) until they hosted fundraisers for them both in their apartment on the same night (I-Love-Lucy-style boundary line down the middle and all). Come to find out "the jewish woman" was a horrifying racist and "the gay guy" was all for shipping the poor people out of the country. It communicated extremely effectively through the comedy of errors.

Imho (and speaking as someone with a vagina, lol!), it's sexist to insist that we MUST elect Hilary simply because she's a woman. It implies that simply by virtue of possessing an aforementioned vagina, she is somehow "better" than any male candidate, and/or that anything sketchy about her or her past should be overlooked because it's more important to just get a FEMALE in the White House - ANY female, evidently.

Btw, I see you've gone back to your old layout. Why?? Just wondering, being nosy, you know the routine... ;)

I was annoyed that the previous design would cut off images that were too wide for the blog body, and I couldn't customise its width. I toyed with several different design ideas before settling on the old starry sky as a kind of placeholder until I find (or make) something new that I prefer. :)
