I thought of you several times as I was reading this book, knowing that you would appreciate it as much as I did. What was surprising to me was that the author, who works at Mount Vernon, seems to hold Adams in higher esteem than the man whose institution employs her. I think the same thing happened to David McCullough. He started out wanting to write a book about Washington and Jefferson and found Adams to be much more interesting and likeable. Let me know if you can't find this book and I'll mail you mine.

P.S. I'm alternating in my reading: a history book, then a work of fiction. My next direction is an author that you love: Carl Hiaasen. I wasn't sure whether to read his most recent book, or an earlier one, but since Governor "Skink" is such a prominent character in his stories, I decided that I will read "Skink: No Surrender" next and then "Squeeze Me" after that.
