John Tyler's Sherwood Forest

John Tyler, the 10th President of the United States, named his plantation Sherwood Forest, after the other place of the same name made famous by Robin Hood lore. You can take a self-guided tour of the grounds for $10 per adult, which is really honor-system based, but it's not a wildly popular attraction, as near as I can tell. We popped by in April 2022.

Thank you for this! Now I want to go there for sure. Did you see the Gray Lady? When Lillian Cunningham of the Washington Post did her podcast on Tyler, she visited the home and claimed that she saw the image of her.

We actually did not go inside, just took the self-guided grounds tour. We went to Berkeley Plantation the same day, as they're only a few miles apart. We didn't see any ghosts or spirits, but a friendly dog kept following us around. No idea whose dog.
