Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you who have some Irish ancestry. Apparently there were 22 Presidents who had some Irish ancestry, some of whom will surprise you. For three of these (Taft, Harding and Truman), I have been unable to locate which ancestor of theirs lived in Ireland. Here is the list:

i found my answer
thanks to wikipedia
and following the trail

it goes to the rising centered in Antrim
known either as the Jacobite or Williamite War from 1688 to 1691
supporters of James II mainly catholics who thought James would restore some of their rights
Williamites supported the Glorious Revolution
obvious who won

Scottish Presbyterians had been encouraged to settle in the region
but after the Williamite victory according to Wiki:

"The majority Irish Catholic community and the Ulster-Scots Presbyterian community were systematically excluded from power, which was based on land ownership."

this would have encouraged moving to the United States in the 20 years or so after the war
