"I've sent my transfer papers to you over two weeks ago. I thought you knew I was coming." the girl explained surprisingly.
"Your owl arrived with these papers 10 minutes ago." professor McGonagall said and showed the girl her transfer papers.
"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry, Charlie is a little old and the time change must have confused him." the girl apologized.

I'm sorry, what? If Charlie is an owl, then why would time changes matter? It's not like the whole of England is running two weeks late or something!!
And how can the girl explain something 'surprisingly'?

It may just be me and my perfectionism speaking here, but I am a little annoyed at the fact that this character thought that by sending her transfer papers in so late that she would be able to have a spot at Hogwarts. Usually a transfer student gets their papers signed and dealt with months in advance to guarantee a spot at the school they wish to attend. Sending such important documents into a school such as this two weeks before the school year starts isn't going to work in your favour. Especially since Dumbledore and the board of governors (they have those right?), along with McGonagall would have to sign paperwork to get the student into the school and to ensure that there is a spot for said student ( ... )

Seriously, that's some of the most bizarre logic I've ever heard. I'm supposed to buy that nobody, in all fifty states, ever uses dark magic? Especially if magic has become common knowledge (which is also really stupid). You think there aren't going to be any wizards that end up on the mafia payroll?

I'm under the belief that she was born in a magic household as well so I have to ask why she doesn't know how to fly. I thought that the broom lessons first year were to give first year students the basics but it really wasn't a pass or fail class. And the stuff about the schools in America is ridiculous.

The idea that American wizards came out five years ago just really doesn't make any sense. If America decided to give up the Statute of Secrecy, it would quickly fall in every corner of the world. Does the author really think no one in England is going to notice if Americans start using magic?
