What... wow. For all the things that are off there are so many, many things they get right that normally aren't right.

1. The use CD players instead of ipods.
2. The mentioning that said devices can't be used.
3. No over glorified powers.
4. Good characterization.
5. Wonderful prose.
6. A story that you can sink your teeth into.
7. An OC that is likable because she is well developed.

Yeah... this one was a treat. Adding it to my favorites

P.S. It is lots of fun to see a character with Mary Sue traits not actually be a Mary Sue. Good luck to the writer and her eventual writing career.

Oh yes. This story is quite a delight. It is quite different than the others that I've been reading today. Oh, I remember those CD players! I got one when I was a preteen... I think 2001? It seems right... but I remember seeing my friends in the nineties and they had CD players, I was so jealous of them.

I remember when I longed for the time that I could listen to music without having to worry about whether it was going to skip over a bus or when I set it down the wrong way.

Hm, the characterisation is good. I feel a bit bad to be enjoying this story when the character has cancer, but it is such a rare treat to find something very well written that doesn't over exaggerates things.
