Incidentally, according to dictionary-dot-com, "daemon" is pronounced the exact same as "demon."
In Latin, the word means an evil spirit, although in Greek mythology, daemons were benevolent nature spirits.
In Dungeons and Dragons, daemons (also called yugoloths in certain editions) are neutral evil fiends, as opposed to the lawful evil devils and chaotic evil demons (I do believe most players pronounce is "day-mon" in order to make it audibly distinct from "demon").

Which is why people were likely making cracks at the characters last name when the writer previously published her stories. I thought the D&D players pronounced it "dey-mon", not "day-mon".

So...she has a fair complexion, and her first name is Fair. Is this like those stories where a character's name is Raven or something, because of their hair color? Or when characters are named because their cheeks are rose red, or because they were born at a certain time of day? Fair just doesn't seem like something someone would normally name their child.

Fai: I'm a special Sparkly Sue. See me dance about and twist me delicate ankle.

Why is Snape so shocked by what this Sue looks like? Not all children are going to look exactly like their parents. I could understand if it was Snape's shock of seeing Harry for the first time. I mean, Harry was basically a physical replica of James except for his green eyes which were Lily's. That would be pretty jolting, considering Snape was in love with Lily, and they didn't end on the best terms. Plus, she'd married and had a child with his enemy. I know this is before Deathly Hallows came out, and before we found out about Lily and Snape's friendship, but still.

This fic is marked romance. I'm guessing that Snape was supposed to fall in love with Fai. It seems as if Snape met the Sue's father when he was five, once. So how is it that he can remember exactly what the man looked like, and know that Fai looks nothing like him?
