Here is day two. I thought about finding one from the Animorphs fandom, but I don't know how many people know the fandom. I also debated picking from the Avengers, but I noticed that a lot of the stories featured on marysues for Avengers tended to be stories with an OC paired with Loki. So, I settled for this fandom.

I hate reading Smellershot. It's not that I hate the pairing, but pretty much every story I've gone into for the pairing just doesn't do the characters justice. Actually, I really like the pairing but have never come up with an interesting plot that they would be the main pairing in my stories, They're more of a side pairing that may very likely occur in my stories.

But what's worse... giving them names like Terry and Nora. I'd pick something Chinese or Japanese for both.

That also said, is this just me... or do a lot of Smellershot like the pairing more because the characters are rather blank slates they can use similar to how people can use OCs?

You're probably right. Neither of them were given much characterization, so it leaves a lot of room for badfic writers.

And some of them wonder why people hate the pairing. This is from someone who happens to like Longbee. That's what I would call the pairing, which is yet another reason people don't like it and stay away.

I think they had chemistry and all, but just like you said, people do it wrong.

I can't see a guy who doesn't talk getting declared the nicest guy in Ravenclaw.
Also, I really see Smellerbee as more of a Hufflepuff. Maybe Griffindor.

One final note:
"Open it," Toph whispered harshly across the table, her blind eyes darting over towards the sound.
Why would someone who was born blind "look" towards a sound? If you pay attention to Avatar, Toph never actually faces who she's talking to, she turns an ear towards them instead, because that's how she "sees".

*snort* I love your comment about Longshot. I agree with you on the fact Smellerbee really isn't Slytherin material, but maybe that plays into my theory that a lot of the fans for this particular pairing do so because they use her as an easy self-insert that happens to also be a canon character.

Why would someone who was born blind "look" towards a sound? Perhaps they trained themselves to turn their eyes towards it to hide the fact they were blind, but with Toph that is kind of rather obvious just by looking at her, so that theory won't work this time. But no... I have heard of a few cases where they did it in this method. I think this was particularly true in the older time error where it was considered impolite to look away from someone who was speaking to you and it was ingrained into some of these people to "look" at the person.

As someone else said, why would Smellerbee be a Slytherin? I know they're not the same universe, but if they DID co-exist, I'm pretty sure Slytherin would only want people who're benders in the Avatar universe. They're the blood-purists.

Also, what elevel year old talks like that?
