My god, when did Dean get to be such an asshole? He'll be lucky if he doesn't give anyone a heart attack with that "costume."

Edit: how exactly do you dress "slutty" as a mermaid? By default they don't wear much of anything.

Well, since they don't wear much to start with I guess that to be a slutty mermaid they'd have to go nude. Which is bound to provoke strong reactions, especially considering that mermaids in the Potterverse aren't exactly attractive.

Lower how far up your hips the "tail" goes, and shrink the size of the seashells/seaweed/whatever you're using as a bra.

Rowling has mentioned that ocean merfolk are more similar to the traditional idea than the lake merfolk are.

What bugs me more than the characters spontaneously being gay is them spontaneously being friends with Draco.
And from the "pairings" section at the beginning of the fic:
NevilleXRon (giggle - Nev's the manly one)
Putting aside the fact that I think Ron would have some significant trouble coming out of the closet if he were gay, and my distaste for having to define gay relationships by straight terms, I can't see Neville being "the manly one" in a relationship with Ron. Yes, Neville kicks ass when he needs to, but he's so much more passive than Ron most of the time.
Of course, given how pointless this fic is, this really translates to "Neville is the one who thinks about sex more". Quite frankly, given Ron's protests and the fact that they apparently haven't had sex in three months, he doesn't seem that into the relationship. Maybe he's secretly straight and doesn't want anyone to know. :)

Also, Hogwarts doesn't dress up for Halloween.

Not to mention this: Note: I am very strict about semes and ukes, there is NEVER role switches within stories (occasionally swap between stories), it sincerely fucks me off... yes, these are all finite (real/right word?) and kawaii

Ugh.

Missed that. Not that most yaoi fangirls make much pretense, but a statement like that makes it clear that this is just her own personal wank material.

And I'm pretty sure "finite" is not the word she's looking for.

If the Suethor enjoys writing OOC so much, why don't they just write original fiction? None of the characters have anything in common with cannon apart from their names.

Completely predictable that Ron's an arsehole in this.

I mostly enjoyed this bit : "...as well as around-the-clock Aura watch...". Never fear! Rainbow lights to the rescue! Also, there are too many clock related words in this quote for me not to think of Voldemort pinned under a giant pocket watch for all eternity.

What bothers me so much about people enjoying OOC characters is that goes against why you'd like a character in the first place. Sometimes people don't make sense.

I'm also kind of upset that the author wasted such an interesting opportunity to explore the dynamics between a Neville/Ron pairing. Like a previous comment mentioned, Ron would have trouble coming to terms with his sexuality plus what about Hermione, his canon love interest? I love pairings (usually rare ones) that take into account that character's different, even clashing, personalities and how their romantic life would affect their friendship dynamic.

This entire thing is a complete waste. Everybody's already in happy couples and the closest thing to a conflict is that Ron and Neville don't have a place to have sex.

But yes, a story where Ron starts realizing he's attracted to Neville (although honestly, I can't see him and Neville getting together. Harry, Seamus, or Dean would be a much better fit, IMO) and actually dealing with it would have a lot of potential.

There's a reason why most stories are about a couple getting together or falling apart. Happy couples being happy isn't very interesting.

I didn't even read past the snippet Pottersues gave and I can tell it's a complete waste. I don't mind reading about happy couples being sickeningly sweet with each other but what's the point without a little conflict, as you said.

I like the idea of Neville slash a little too much so literally any pairing with him that's compatible would be an interesting read for me. Once my school schedule wraps up and I want to take a break from NaNo, I want to write a Neville/Ron story where they end up becoming attracted to each other. That's the one thing I like about Suethors: they have great ideas.

Agreed!

The characters of Harry Potter are gay despite the fact it is made clear that their orientation is heterosexual.
Probably not gonna stop the fanfic authors.
