Fortunately, they do still teach grammar. I know, because I used to help my little sister with her homework before I went to college, and her fifth and sixth grade "Reading" classes seemed to consist mainly of identifying and using different types of clauses. Unfortunately, just because something is being taught does not necessarily mean that it is being learned. (you think you're so smart with your COMMAS,,,,,,,, Oh, how I weep for the future.)
