Can't get over the Dursley's welcoming a random girl who showed up on their doorstep with open arms. I could see Petunia saying "Get her in off the street while we figure out what to do with her. Can't have the neighbors seeing her there." But the moment they found out she was a witch, they'd chuck her.
Also, calling the people who are taking you in "stupid muggles" is extremely rude.
Hello head. Meet desk. I'm sure the two of you will get along smashingly. You'll have to, I imagine, considering you'll be seeing a lot of each other during this fic.
Wings. Human. Wings. Human. *head explodes* I remember when I was fourteen watching a video in science class about how if a human were to be able to fly, a human's entire body shape would have to completely change. There is a reason why birds, bats, insects and any other thing that might fly are designed like that. Humans are not. Humans can not fly. Humans were not designed to fly. Fourteen years old, and I already understood this. *head explodes again*
I'm trying to create a race of winged people. I'm thinking of just going the botched evolution/magical experiment route. Best I can do is make the wings massively bulky (generally about as tall as the one they're attached to, and twice as wide) and the give them the ability to furl at the back. Plus, the race themselves are ridiculously fragile. Hollow bones, an' all.
Well, it makes more sense. At least you can tell that you've put at least some logical thought into the creation of those... beings... with the hollow bones and the size of the wings.
Any thing else I could do? I saw someone mention that the chest cavity would have to be enlarged quite a bit. They're built angel-style, but I'd like it to be as sensible as possible.
