Are the names spelled differently in the translations, or is that kind of stupidity really international?

Yay! Second first-post ever! Hooray for having-just-been-e-mailed-by-Pottersue-and-not-being-able-to-read-German-so-just-skipping-through-most-of-it-to-comment! Although now I feel bad about abusing the hyphens.

I think they are... In Japanese it's pretty much a direct translation, but as that's the only language other than English that I speak, that's the best I can give you.

Tom Marvolo Riddle's called "トム　マールヴォロ　リドル" (Tomu Maaruvoro Ridoru), then later "I am Lord Voldemort" becomes "俺様はヴォリデモート卿だ" (ore-sama ha Voridemouto-kyou da) though they just leave the English in and provide a translation in parenthesis, because it wouldn't have worked in Japanese anyway.

They have a girl named Mari who later adds Susanne to her name?

I don't know what a Mary-Sue would be called in Norway, but if your character's name involves the names 'Mari' and 'Susanne' I think it's a bad sign.
