0793: Un'ombra solitaria - Rory Potter Santo

Jun 06, 2005 18:32

Today I saw in a store window a display of baby bibs with various silly slogans on them, including the following:

It's tough to be neat/when your learning to eat!

I don't know who approved that design, but I hope they get attacked by evil apostrophes who went bad because they were denied loving homes.

Girl Who Lived Week, Day Five:

related to the potters, rating - awful, pf - boy/girl who lived (different one a, ph - hufflepuff

I was really getting into the whole thing where the Sue is actually a conceited celebrity, but then I realized it contained sentences like: Rory on the other hand was everything a child of the light should be.
AAAAUGH.

“What is the problem Harry we already know that you are going to Salem why are you getting angry at this letter when all you have to do is burn it,” Nigel asked.

"What is the problem Suethor we already know you cannot use punctuation why are you making it even more painful when all you have to do is USE A FUCKING COMMA," Raeling asked.

I think it's "Sancho" that's associated with Mexicans. "Santo" is the Spanish word for "saint" and is common in every Hispanic culture. As for "Rory", I've never heard it as anything but a girl's name. Short for "Aurora".

It's pretty much exclusively a male name in Britain and Ireland (and for me, only knowing rather masculine Rories, it's awfully confusing to see it on a girl). I suspect we may (as ter396 states below) be about to get a rash of female Rories too, though.

Piece of useless information: it's often spelled Ruiri in Ireland, similar pronunciation.

Actually, I have a cousin who's named Rory. And he's very much not a girl. <.< XD
In this case, Rory is short for Rodrick, though.
I've never heard it for Aurora though.
.... of course, I don't know anyone named Aurora so... XD

Rory can also be short for Lorelai, courtesy of Gilmore Girls. That Rory is also a stuck up little princess. Hrm. Is anyone else seeing this pattern?

Rory? On what planet is this a girl's name?

Rory is a leading female character on Gilmore Girls on the WB network. She's really named Lorelei, but couldn't pronounce it as a toddler.

About four years from now, I figure North America will have a rash of "Rory"s. I hope it overtakes Brianna. No offense, real life Briannas, but that name is in too many romance novels.

Along with the rash of 'Harry', 'Ron' and 'Hermione'. And sadly, with the number of teen pregnancies ... some 'Serena' and so forth.

I thought of Gilmore Girls because of the time. Is it even Rory?
