441: James Potter and the Emerald Elfstone - Lily

Jun 19, 2004 21:03

I'm almost out of theme weeks... I think we'll probably do two more after Elf Week, and then be back to our regularly scheduled random sueage.

TITLE: James Potter and the Emerald Elfstone (OMG James/Aragorn OTP!)
PERPETRATOR: WolfGurl18 (I think having 'gurl' in one's username should automatically lose you ten points)

SUE-O-METER:

rating - awful, ct - elf (part), sue - lily potter, p - crossover

Doesn't read so much as having Robert Jordan influence (although that might explain why it's so awful) but more like a Magician rip-off with LoTR characters thrown in for measure.

I for one would like to see a stare-off contest between Lan and Allanon. Who can look the most dark and brooding, go! I think we should set some Aiel on the Sue'Thor. Better yet, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named meets Rand, A.K.A. the cara'carn A.K.A. the artist formerly known as Al'Thor. Darkhounds vs. Fluffy vs. the shape-shifting dog in the first Elfstones book. Nazgul vs. Dementors vs. Shades. Tom Bombadil meets the River King. The One Power vs. Elfstones vs. wands vs. the Ring. So many mutated plotbunnies...wasted. And then I realized I read too much fantasy.

Why does everyone say Allanon is a ripoff of Gandalf, anyway? I mean, Gandalf never had anything approaching his creepy factor. He's like... the chaos theorist in Jurassic Park, only he cold-bloodedly orchestrates the survival of the world and is... really really creepy.

Terry Brooks had so many fake deaths in Sword of Shannara, I guess he had to compensate by the time he got to Callahorn. He compensated all through Elfstones as well. Then he got some balance. But all those fake deaths in Sword of Shannara just add to the denial.

And whenever I say "Allanon" out loud, people think I mean Alcoholics Anonymous. Don't get me started on "Antrax"...

it's chicks like these who kill feminism and send us all backwards.

"Oh. So you think that because I am a girl, I cant track, or hunt, or kill?"

ooooh, lookit the mystic elf-lady-person and her super-nature-skills. i'm soooo sure feminists everywhere are cheering for this hyper-sensitive and easily offended biatch.

" You do not know why you are here so I suggest you think before you speak."
My inner fangirl added in the line 'And then Sirius kicked Peter in the nads for his insolence.'

" Im serious Sirius, and no I know I am not you.
My inner fangirl is flipping off the screen with both hands and screaming obscenities.

Geez, Elf!Lily is cool. I mean, Movie!Arwen bashed Glorfindel over the head with a shovel to steal his part, but then Elf!Lily beat up Movie!Arwen, so Elf!Lily's like... the Godzilla of suetry.
Only not as cool.
My inner fangirl is demolishing Tokyo in a fit of rage.

...But that makes your inner fangirl Elf!Lily. I think your inner fangirl might be better represented as Mothra, or maybe King Kong.

*envisions Elf!Lily!Godzila being taken down by a giant coocoocthulu"!moth with a spork*

Ditto. Or as 'Avalon', spelt badly. Oh dear god, it's a Marion Zimmer Bradley crossover as well.

Isn't that the place of the Ellcrys tree in Elfstones, or do I misremember?
