I don't think the writer honestly did the song service with what they wrote. I think they interpreted the song as a romance to someone named Roxanne, when in reality the song was meant as a friendly encouragement to try and get out of that life. Friendship and romance, there is a major difference between the two, but there's also a difference between a male friend encouraging you to get out for the sake of getting out and having a better life, and a male encouraging you to get out so you can be their lover. Hermione, contrary to what the writer says, never regained her agency.

This story... I mean, I don't want to be cruel and say that it is really bad, but I feel that the writer could have done a bit better. I mean, if Hermione did fall on some very hard times, selling her body for money wouldn't have been her final resort. The whole magic thing made me wince because Hermione was born a witch though she was muggle born, Ron didn't make her into a witch, that was something that Hermione was.

I don't know the song so I am not going to say anything in regards to that, but despite their circumstances, the characters should have been kept in character. Hermione would have found a job probably at the Ministry of Magic, even if it didn't pay well, at least that story would have been much more believable.

The writer really makes Snape into a creepy man. Sure, he does save Hermione from that horrible way of life, but it's almost as if he's telling her that unless you become my lover, I won't have anything to do with you. At least, that is how I interpret this story.

The song was written before people understood that not all prostitutes had a choice in their occupation, but was meant to point out how demeaning the profession is. And I was wrong, there is a part that can be interpreted as romantic, but it's... not the way the writer did. They didn't pick and choose the right characters, but shoved the ones they wanted in.

I don't want to slut shame, but I also respect the character too much not to. So I'm just going to flip this story the bird. And use my other finger to flip off the concept of Snamione.
