Sorting Hat

Since the Summer Olympics are going on, I thought I'd try the Sorting Hat again starting with the first hundred Sues. No, for those who don't know, I'm not talking about sorting the Sues into the actual Hogwarts houses, but the Mary Sue houses: Sparklypoo, Totsitramp, Quanonreip and Bitchiwitch. The four houses started with a comic by Gmonkey which introduced a fifth house into which all Harry Potter sues ended up sorted into. Later on three other houses were developed.

One of the reasons for starting over lies in people not knowing what the traits for each house are, so here are the traits of the various houses.

Sparklypoo - Mary Tzu, Mary Sue Classic, Purity Sue, Einstein Sue; this particular house focuses on the most classic trait associated with Mary Sues, that of absolute perfection. However, this also includes the classic sparkly traits like cat ears, purple hair without having a logical explanation, wings, and pretty much anything that is cute, and fluffy in nature, or at least is meant to be.

Totsitramp - Relationship Sue, Lemon Stu; this particular hose focuses on “tru luv”, but also more specifically on sexualization. This is however also the house for Sues which are only Relationship Sues in nature.

Quanonreip - Black Hole Sue, Copy Cat Sue, Fixer Sue, God-Mode Sue, Canon Sue, Possession Sue; this particular house focuses on breaking the canon rules, but also the rules of the real world. We're specifically talking about things that make you cringe.

Bitchiwitch - Jerk Sue, Villain Sue; the trait for this house is, well, they're bitches. Pretty much think of your queen bees, those that fall into their clique, but those who want to be queen bees. Also think of the characters which like getting into fights, being bad-ass in general, etc.

This said, the Neutrality Sue, Anti-Sue and Sympathetic Sue really don't really fit into any of these four houses. Some Neutrality Sues and Anti-Sue fit under Bitchiwitch, but not all of them. This type of Sue wasn't really noticed until the Twilight saga came out. People had become more aware of the term Mary Sue and thought the way to avoid one was to give their characters a ton of flaws. Thus a fifth house to sort the Sues into is needed. The name which popped into my head was Woobiebells. (The name may change.)

Woobiebells - Anti-Sue, Neutrality Sue and Sympathetic Sue; this particular house focuses on imperfection, but not imperfections that stop the characters from being Mary Sues. Instead it's imperfections that endear people, make the Sue look cute, or draws sympathy from the audience, or at least attempts to.

How does this work?

1. Each person gets one vote for each Sue within an entry. Some entries contain more than one Sue, so for each Sue one can give one vote. Also, for some Sues the house they belong to is actually quite clear, but in other cases like Neville and Hermione the Sue shares traits with multiple houses. In ones vote one can include more than one house.

2. Please make sure you put the number of the Sue and the name of the Sue when you vote, otherwise it will be harder for me to tally the votes.

3. I'm thinking two to three months to get votes in, but also possibly overlapping the votes. Each set of hundred will be it's own entry.
