While that Wikipedia article is rather simplified, I agree with you about corsets and the 1970s. It was all long-flowing frocks, or smooth ones with lots of bias in the skirts. (I was a teenager in the late 1970s).

If you *were* a little in need of support, you'd wear a Playtex girdle - but that's more my mother's generation.

Corsets really didn't start coming back in until the late 1980s - blame Madonna and Jean Paul Gautier. In fact, it's really amusing watching "Period Drama" from the 1960s and 1970s because they rarely had the correct underpinnings for their costumes.

Ugggh, Costume Porn-it's a pet peeve of mine in fanfiction.

God, that's a lot of pointless in this one. This character is just boring and pointless.
