Queer eye for the Wizarding guy

Where did the fanon trope of Draco Malfoy as Carson Kressley come about?

I can't recall how many stories I've read where Draco takes Harry shopping for clothing, selects a wardrobe for Harry and astonishes everybody with how much better Harry looks afterwards.
  • I mean, is it because both men are blonds?
  • Is it because people just assume that if he' ( Read more... )

Haha. Personally, I like the fics where Harry and Draco fool around in the dressing room while trying on clothes;-)

Hmph. I`ve seen this in lots of other pairings as well (and nowhere is this as out of place as in my ex-OTP, HP/SS) - and it is as stoopid and exists everywhere.

    No idea why.

    Maybe it`s the slash!version of makeover!Sue!fics?

So which partner is supposed to be the stylish one capable of giving the other grooming tips? I would think they'd drive a hairstylist to tears...

Oh now that could be a hoot. Harry and Snape on a shopping trip. Neither one of them having a clue...

I'd assume Draco has MOUNDS of style.
Wizard style, mind you. Which =/= Muggle style. If, for some reason I can't think of, Draco WOULD take Harry shopping, and it were a Wizard clothes shop, I'm certain Draco could point out the single damn best outfit in the establishment.

Put him in a muggle clothes shop, and he wouldn't know how to get the clothes off the RACK.

I've been assuming that the first thing Harry does on midnight on his seventeenth birthday is pack his trunk and summon the Knight Bus (possibly leaving a small pile of galleons on the kitchen table), heading to Grimmauld Place or the Leaky Cauldron or the Burrow. Next day, however, he'll shop for clothes that fit and underwear and SOCKS that have never been previously owned. And, unless he goes to Madam Malkin, he'll probably grab plain, simple robes off the rack and look just like any other young wizard.

I always rather figured he'd bought new socks and underwear when he bought his robes every August, and he just doesn't let the Dursleys see them, but yeah, that makes sense :D
