Nomnomnomnom!

Don't ask me - I'm naturally this awesome, I have no idea how to fake it.

:-P

But seriously... try staging mice for photos. Does Not Work. I honestly have no tips on staging because most of the things I photograph have their own ideas.

You're the worst kind of person. >:C

LMFAO true but YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE BEST LIGHTING...I guess that is because you have like, that huge window and all that natural light? We have like no natural light in the kitchen. Or anywhere in the house really, it's...kind of pathetic...oAo

I revel in it.

Yeah... I use the light at certain times of day, plus I use that white shelf as a sort-of lightbox sometimes, plus I have various lighting options in my room :-) The sun hits this side of the house all afternoon so my light is awesome.

Our house is about 80 years old...which in New England means 'nobody gave a fuck about natural light in the house for some reason'. All of our windows are small and badly-placed to actually light the room. Like I'm in the room in our house with the most windows in it right now and it's midafternoon and we have all the recessed lights TEN FUCKING LIGHTS IN THE CEILING WHICH IS A TON FOR THIS SPACE (they're only set like four or five feet apart) on right now. And it's still kind of dim in here.

Those cookies look amazing.

I wish I was any good at staging photos. :( That second one and the extreme cookie closeup look good to me. I think lighting is one of the biggest things, as well as having an uncluttered background. I know there are easy tricks for making homemade light boxes using white plastic gallon milk jugs or the like. But that doesn't help for taking pictures of things bigger than would fit in a gallon size jug.

I'm always jealous of beautifully staged photos. Food seems especially hard to do well, too.

I actually have a home-made lightbox - a hugeass one made of cut-up whiteboards - but it's falling apart now, and also seems kind of odd to haul it downstairs to get shots of cookies...but...hmmmm a milk jug would probably work awesome...hmmmmmmmmm.

Yeah there are these people who are just so amazing at staging food photos and I'm like HOW DO THEY DO THAT? OH GOD IT LOOKS SO GOOD
