The Potent Serpent Summer Challenge is here!

Jun 12, 2006 08:50

The long awaited summer challenge makes its debut!

The Challenge:  Write at least 15,000 words of Harry/Blaise prose by September first. There is no particular challenge as far as subject matter goes, although all entries must be HBP compliant (Edit: But AU is acceptable). 15,000 words of prose does include one-shots, but together they must add up to 15,000 by the first. Do not just add 15,000 words to a fic that you have already started; the idea of this is to get more fics out there, so start something completely new!

The Particulars: NEW AND IMPROVED!! Just post your fic here, write "PS Summer Writing Challenge" in the subject line, and the format should be like so within the body of your entry:

Title:
Author:
Word Count:
Disclaimer:
Summary:

I'll update our tallies every week.

If you are finished with your word count early, it is up to you whether or not to keep working, though it would be appreciated if any chaptered fics were finished by September first - it will make the awards process easier, and make it easier for your fic to win!

Awards: Awards will be given out at the end of this, by community vote, for the following:

Most Creative
Best One-Shot
Best Comedy
Best Angst
Best Drama
Best Chaptered Fic

New and Improved! I will post a poll with each of these as categories, and fit the fics that have been entered for the challenge into the categories. All you need to do is vote in the poll! So much easier than the original process, thank you
mara_202 for the suggestion.

I'm giving the awards a month because I want people to have time to read all of the fics, even those that come in at the last minute. If this is no longer an issue, and everyone votes, I will post the awards earlier.

Questions? Comments? Respond to this entry! Oh, and respond if you plan to do the challenge, so that I can start writing up the tally and figuring about how many fics we'll get. I'm also going to participate, which is why the voting is done by the community.

Have fun, and good luck!
