For everyone who trashed him, there were still people - like myself - who stuck up for him. And this is what we get. Thanks a lot, Alex. :( Scooter the Squirrel is not pleased.

This has been the trend in professional sports in general (and baseball in particular) over the course of the last generation. Dynasties like the Mickey Mantle Yankees and the Michael Jordan Bulls are a thing of the past. Almost every player who turns out to be a real star jumps at the highest paycheck whenever their contract is up. It is hard to build a legacy when your team has no real identity because the players keep hopping from team to team in search of more money.

If he comes to Boston, I will hang up my hat and defect from Red Sox Nation for the duration of his stay.

However, that does not mean I will become a Yankees fan... I think the Orioles need some representation up here. :)

Congrats to your team, another fine run.

Yeah, I can actually see teams shying away from him because of this classless move.

I mean, I admit openly, as a player I'd LOVE to have him.

But the guy has been on the back or front page of the Daily News 125 times this year!

And, he obviously doesn't want to be here.

My guess is he takes Barr-oid's spot in San Fran, where they could find a reason to root for Charlie Manson.

You don't think he's going to the Cubs?

Dude... he's still going in the HOF.

Some people don't like being in the fishbowl. It's why a lot of hockey players don't want to play in Montreal.

The Hall Of Fame is a foregone conclusion.

That was the one I was talking about.

But retired number, plaque in Monument Park and a Monument? For the Yankees? Not happening.
