empire strikes back & dmc

We have all probably heard/read comparisons of Dead Man's Chest to the second Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back (2nd film, 5th film? I don't know...) So I thought I would go looking for some of these similarities.

Now, I didn't think of these, I just picked these up from various sources around the internet.

Both are obviously the 2nd film in a trilogy (although ESB turned into the 5th). Both end in a cliffhanger.

The fate of the main character is uncertain at the end of each film (Han Solo and Jack Sparrow), but the other main characters are going to rescue him.

Jack Sparrow and Han Solo are both skilled captains of their respective ships, even though people often think they are crazy. Jack's crew often is confused by his actions (like staying near the shores to avoid the Kraken,) and Leia and C-3PO are alarmed when Han flies directly into an asteroid field, and later when he flies directly at a pursuing Star Destroyer. They are adventerous.

Both of them are mainly concerned with there own fates at first.

In both movies, the female lead tries to persuade them to stay and fight, but they leave anyway. However the woman's message gets through them, and they return in the heat of battle to rescue their friends.

They both are pretty funny characters, and have a good sense of humour.

Both Jack and Han's last name is a common English word.

A former enemy will aid them in their search. In ESB, it's Lando, in DMC, it's Barbossa.

Lando and Barbossa are both former captians of Jack and Han's ships.

They are captured due to the betrayal of a friend. Jack is betrayed by Elizabeth; Han is betrayed by Lando.

There is a love triangle between the three main characters.

They are both captains of a ship with great sentimental value behind it. Both ships are described as "the fastest," and they weren't always captain of that ship.

Both Will and Luke are brave and skilled fighters, but they are incredibly naive. Both Jack and Han are much more "street-smart."

Both Will and Luke are rather rash at first, and must learn to control their emotions.

Both Will and Luke discover an unpleasant truth about their fathers and both of their fathers are not fully human anymore.

Mackenzie Crook and Lee Arenberg are the substitutes for R2D2 and C3PO, commenting from the sidelines, while Naomie Harris's swamp-dwelling prophetess is a Yoda surrogate.

Can you think of anymore? Some of them are a bit of a stretch but you get the idea...
I am just wondering that if there are these many similiarities can we almost predict what is going to happen in AWE by looking at Return of the Jedi?
