lol I am not even going to try to fit my thoughts into 100 words. :P I posted my point form first thoughts at http://arisha.livejournal.com/443653.html , but it doesn't really include the things I liked about the movie, more what I felt like talking about. I enjoyed it more than this entry would have you think, is what I'm saying. x)

I loved, loved, loved it.

Jack was well, Jack, just like he should be. Much like the Jack of the first movie. Maybe the running away from something isn't really his kinda thing to do?

Barbossa was great as well. Nice to have another old character besides Gibbs back.

Black Beard's evilness was very much believable and still he was much more likeable than Beckett and Davy Jones ever were (and I think even bad people deserve a little love).

All in all the movie was perfect. Interesting storyline - well told.

In exactly 100 words:

The Goods: Mature Jack, Barbossa kicking ass, good pacing/editing, good simple storyline that is easy to follow, Angelica kicking ass as well, a very different feel from the last films but at the same time full of references to the PotC universe we love.

The bads: Zombies, no chemistry Jack/Angelica, Philip-what's-his-name, lack of depth in Jack's character evolution, new characters that don't really inspire me to write/read fanfic (yet? I think Angelica is too obvious to be interesting for fanfic, but the good/bad conflict within her might be interesting to explore) -- and mostly, I missed James Norrington.

Not entirely sure what I thought. LOVED Jack. He was absolutely delightful. Did not like Blackbeard. Creeped me out. Loved Jack and Angelica's interactions. Did not like Angelica. Liked the mermaids. Zombies and Spaniards seemed a bit superfluous. Not enough Pirate!Barbossa. I almost cheered when he put his big hat on at the end.

Probably have more coherent thoughts tomorrow.

Wasn't in love with Angelica (she's no Elizabeth), though I liked the "writhing" scene between she and Jack. Missed Norrington, Will, Elizabeth something fierce. Liked Philip a lot. Such a sweetheart. I want to know more about him. (Could take or leave the Philip/Syrena plotline, though.)

Miles above AWE, but not as good as COTBP.
