NEED: resources for community justice/accountability

I'm looking for resources/guides/histories/models/etc. for building systems of community justice and community accountability, particularly in young, urban, queer spaces. There is a growing momentum of queer and gender non-conforming folks in my town who want to take action to address some serious issues within our community, including but not ( Read more... )

You should go to Leah's website (one of the co-creators of the zine,) and e-mail her. She's an invaluable resource on these matters. She's also insanely busy and walking her activist talk until her blisters bleed - so it may take a minute. But really - she's an excellent, brilliant, all-around amazing activist, thinker and writer. That's my best.....until I got to the very end I was going to comment: "You should get your hands on a copy of The Revolution Starts at Home." :)

And - it would be really cool and appreciated if you tracked your progress here - because these issues are so crucial to our wellness and they are not being addressed nearly enough.

Thank you! So as to not waste her precious time, I'll wait until we've had some initial community meetings before asking about specific strategies. I'm happy to post progress here.

Thank you for the updates. :) Next time I talk to her I'll let her know about this and see if she can provide any more resources that I don't know about. Sadly, I think our resources around these things are meager. On the bright side that allows us the opportunity to think really, really, really hard and come up with our own resources.
