Dude, 6 grand in 9 months is, like, beyond insanely cheap. I probably spent over 40 grand in 8 months there!

Well...I'm sure if I were living in London, this would be a completely different story! (And I'm really glad I'm not. :3)

Dude, you've got nothing to worry about. I spent over $1000 on my Tokyo trip alone, and that was only five days! (a big chunk of that was getting there and back, yes, but the rest was souvenirs for myself and presents for people... >.>)

Is travel fairly costly in Japan? :O Or is it because you are on bumfuck nowhere island? :P

And wow O_O...I suppose I rarely buy souvenirs for myself, so maybe that's why I didn't spend much XDDD; Everything I bought was more or less presents for people... :3

It's definitely because I'm on bumfuck nowhere island. (That is a new phrase for me, so I'm trying it out. :P) There are so many more choices if you start out on the main island. It was like two hundred bucks round-trip for the overnight bus to Tokyo... It'll cost about that much to go to Nagasaki too, since I have several transfers and change of method of transportation to get there... >.< I guess they just don't expect people on Shikoku to go anywhere?? :P

and yeah, well, I wanted to buy one of those designer GothLoli outfits, and that was of course another big chunk. I was prepared for that, but still, in addition to all the little purchases I made, actually seeing that trip total was a bit of a shock, because I thought I'd been pretty good with not spending too much... T_T

I reckon you could get 6000 words out of Clameron, especially if you used it as an example of RPF/slash fandom more generally.

I was thinking about doing it in conjunction with RPF/slash fandom - but I'm imagining there isn't much literature about it, I'm not quite sure of the exact topic...and I don't know if it would be too late to change my topic now...Plus I don't know if I want to out myself as a slasher, haha...Though I suppose I could just focus on the mainstream media aspects of it? idk. Hmm.

And now I'm seriously considering it...

There's a body of literature about fandom, and last time I talked to an English/Cultural Studies person about it, she said that the literature on slash was beginning to arrive, in terms of people talking about it at conferences and things. I guess there's at least some - I found a literature about YouTube, after all, and actually some of that material about user-generated content would be transferable to livejournal/fanfic environments. In the theory side, perhaps you could link it to Sedgwick's stuff about being a woman who desires as a gay man? I've sometimes wondered if that kind of desire didn't underlie at least some of slash fandom as constructed by women.

On the other hand, if you've got one topic that you're happy enough with, at this point you might be best to finish that, just because of the time constraints.

This is definitely the most entertaining reason I've ever heard for someone to get interested in British politics!
