After Karla had witnessed the events on the network, she figured that it was about time that she and her roommate had a little talk on proper etiquette in a place like this. Whether Zuko was from another world, culture, or whatever, it didn't really matter, he needed to conform to at least some sense of normalcy if he was going to survive in this world. Really, she didn't care that much about him, and she'd been content to just let him do whatever he felt like. After all, it didn't really affect her, and that was all that she was worried about. However, if Zuko was going to keep getting into trouble with cops or whatever, that could bring the problem back to their room, back to her, and she'd been behaving too well lately to let anything hinder her goals ( ... )

Roommates. That was an odd thought, Charis couldn't even remember the last time she'd had roommates. The capekillers had told her where she was supposed to go after they'd dumped her off, they probably expected her to be a good girl and rush right there. She didn't. She'd gotten some help, a nice young girl had healed the really bad wounds on her back. Charis had been oddly impressed by Katara, her empathy had picked up a surprisingly strong inner strength inside the girl. After that she'd waited a few days, letting her other wounds heal up ( ... )

Zuko quickly looked up at the sound of Karla's voice, straightening and taking another big step toward the window before turning to greet her. He opened his mouth and stopped, taking in her stance. And her glare.

"Karla, I've had a long day. And I'm hungry." His stomach grumbled loudly, as if in agreement and Zuko let his frustration get the better of him.

"Why should I stop anyway?!," Zuko started heatedly. "You never had a problem with this before," he added before throwing his arms out. It startled the birds away in the process. Hearing the beating of wings, Zuko turned around, his shoulders already slumping a little before correcting themselves.

"Great. Thanks a lot--"

Zuko turned to glare at the voice of a new person. "Who are you?" he demanded.

She sighed, motioning back to the bag that she'd left by the door. "I bought food, and you're welcome to eat anything you want."

Karla wasn't about to get into an argument with the kid, and if Zuko wanted to get angry about this, then he was more than free too, but she wasn't going to be pulled into it. "Yeah, because it never was a problem for me." Her voice is perfectly even in tone. "You don't want the cops to be involved with you, at all. You don't want to bring them here. We have enough to deal with, thanks to the capekillers, helmets falling from the sky, and pretty much everyone hating us.

"You need to conform to their-"

She's interrupted as the newcomer enters the room, looking over her shoulder at the girl, the turning to face her. The first things that she notices are the swords, and that, for the moment, gives Karla enough of a reason to be cautious for the moment.

"Not at all," She replies pleasantly. "Can we help you?"
