[ Tavros has not yet noticed any unwanted presence lurking about the place, but is still rolling right on down that hallway, determined to be undeterred by the sudden onslaught of confusing and slightly terrifying alternate timeline shenanigans going on. He thinks that's something Rufio would approve of.

[ his tails pretty safe, thankfully, because he's much busier sticking his whole body in tavros' path, instead of just the tail. stands there, sort of slackjawed, and without any greater plan for what to do because woah

before him is someone else who looks just like him (more or less; he's more alike than most humans, in any case), who is probably even the same species and everything, oh man, oh man, what is he even to do about this.

and while he's trying to get over this overexcited mental block of his? john is literally just blocking the path now and giving tavros the single most wide-eyed clueless stare in the entire history of wide-eyed clueless staring. his entire brain might have just derailed entirely upon seeing tavros, truth be told. ]

Wow, this- wow, uhh, hi, I guess. I hope you haven't, you know, been living here a long time, since, I'm pretty sure I've never seen you before. And I wouldn't really, have an excuse for that, at this point.

[ once john gets over the shock, he might come to recognise how similar this person is to the tavros that he knows, in speech and partly in appearance, but for the moment he's a little bowled over. ]

And, uh. I haven't really been here for long, but...

[ gives a sort of FLAILING, USELESS GESTURE. ] Oh man, this is gonna sound so dumb, but are you real? I'm not like dreaming of other aliens or anything, right? Because I've done that before. I mean, not that you'd really know or admit to it if you were a dream so maybe you should just pinch me.

He knew John was a troll all along.

[No, John isn't very sneaky. Sollux, on the other hand, has had to learn to practically be an underwater ninja over his sweeps of avoiding assassination. So while he knows that there aren't any assassins in Truth or Consequences, he's never seen this troll before. He should be paranoid... but it was safe here, wasn't it? Feferi told him it was. Maybe this was just a new troll he hasn't met yet.

So he'll sneak up behind the other troll, grinning.]

its a good first line of defence, okay, since that freaked him out quite a bit. a tailsmack is infinitely better than john turning around and punching sollux or something else, anyway, considering all the mangrit he has. probably better than a windretaliation, too.

he does jump, putting some distance between the two of them before he gets a pretty alright look at sollux and heads most of the way right on back. there are more grey-and-horned people, wow, this is so exciting. ]

[And John was heading home from work when he spotted this strange troll kid that he didn't quite recognize. He is pretty sure Alternians didn't have tails, but he looked close enough to a troll that maybe he was just one of the strange alien kinds. Either way he looked lost and confused.]

[ John's a pretty familiar face, though he looks a bit younger than usual (but hey, slightly vain appearance altering wasnt unheard of) so trollbert doesn't think too much of (doublechecking the area to make sure no one will see him casually conversing with a civilian, and:) jumping out at him once he recognises him, grin wide. ]

Hehe, you should have told me you were here. Not that I made it clear I was around or anything, because of the whole borked-disguise issue that I've got going on, but. You know.

Durr, who else. [ considering he modelled his humanappearance after his uncle when he was younger, "little-me" was not an unheard of nickname. john doesn't think anything of it. ]
