Rose, who had been sitting cross-legged on the flat, warm tile, got hastily to her feet when she saw Sollux, and half-walked, half-ran over to where he had emerged. This was a slightly riskier procedure than it had once been, given her newly shitty depth perception and proximity to the edge of the roof, but Rose was uninterested in physics, just then.

"There you are," she said, with an adopted calm that was hopefully at odds with the panicky thwack of her shoelaces against the roof.

He spun around at the sound, not quite expecting it, though the surprise quickly shifted into a kind of relief, along with something a bit darker.

"Hey LL," he said, smiling faintly, though he mostly looked really tired. "Yeah...I'm back I guess."

"You guess?" she said, raising her eyebrows. "Is it possible that you have left essential bits of yourself behind?"

It was intended as a joke, but once spoken it hung oddly in the air.

He looked away, unable to keep himself letting out a heavily weary sigh at that question. He spent a long moment trying to control his emotions, but when he spoke his voice was tight.

"I...don't know. Maybe. It was kind of fucked up." He was trying to shoot it back like it was a joke too, but the tension in his tone ruined it - and he clearly realized it.
