After looking through her stuff for the last couple of days, Dani was sure that a pair of her favorite boots had gone missing. She couldn't remember if she might have lent them out to someone so the first place she went to check was the Willows.

A familiar face around the place, Dani grabbed the spare key they stashed outside and just let herself in. Where could her boots be?

Sally was making a fruit salad--the only dish she's allowed to create--when she looked up and saw Dani. "Hey!" she called, and beckoned her friend inward. "What are you doing here?"

Dani gave a brief wave and a "Hey" before bending down to look under the table. Boots not there, she stood back up with a curious look at her face before addressing Sally properly.

"Sorry Sally, I was looking for something," she looked over at the fruit salad. "Is the fruit salad for something?"

"Nothing special really. Just for lunch." She watched Dani. "Um...what are you looking for? Maybe I can help."

The most recent event that had left her depowered had not ended well for Diana. And... the details were a bit vague, but it was generally implied that a tree was involved and Diana was very embarrassed about the entire incident. Though she was one who typically ignored pain in favor of charging full steam ahead, even with her powers back, she still couldn't ignore the pain in her leg. Neither could her job, it seemed, as she had been sent home on two weeks sick leave while her body healed up.

Needless to say, she was going absolutely stir crazy. She had become an almost constant figure on her spot on the couch, usually armed with a book and a cup of tea. Or in the kitchen, busily fiddling away with everything from minced meat pies to making her own tea. Today, she was trying knitting and wondering if she had finally and completely lost her mind from sheer boredom.

Dani walked into the living room, still on her quest to find her boots and noticed another one of the roommates in the house. Dani looked at her face and recognized her from the comms but hadn't met her just yet. She raised her eyebrow at the knitting before setting her expression to polite greeting.

"Hey. You're Diana right?"

Diana looked up and smiled, likewise recognizing Dani. "Yes. And you're Dani, correct?"

She pushed herself up, despite the slight complaint from her legs, and offered her hand. "It's nice to finally meet you in person."

Dani smiled and shook Diana's hand. "Likewise."

She gestured to the knitting. "A hobby of yours?"

John never dreamed about Newcastle. He'd taken care of that years ago. But everything else in his life provided enough nightmare fuel to keep a normal man from ever sleeping again.

For John, the bad nights were only intermittent. But the locked doors in his head were rattling hard tonight. The look on his niece Gemma's face the last time he'd ever seen her had been trapped behind his eyelids since his head hit the pillow, hovering over a landscape of 'what ifs' and 'could bes.'

When he felt the First of the Fallen's hand slide across his mouth to yank him backward, he sat up in bed with a gasp.

This was nothing new. Did anyone ever really sleep in this room? Probably not, not really. Amara was a light sleeper, even lighter now for various reasons, and she was up at once when she heard John. The temperature in the room spiked for a moment, her heart pounding. After a quick scan, there didn't seem to be anyone else in the room, so Amara concluded that the only demons here were the ones in his head. She relaxed and swung her legs over the side of the bed with a sigh.

Amara was always unsure how to proceed during something like this: either ask if he was okay or give him his space. It wasn't any of her concern. Maybe he would rather be left alone. Still, she found herself pushing aside the partition between her bed and the others to check on him.

"John?"

Head hanging, he tilted it to look at Amara from the corner of his eye. "Sorry, luv. Didn't mean to wake you." Sweat, from both the nightmares and the sudden heat, tickled his face. He swiped a hand across his stubbled cheek.

Honestly it was a relief to hear a friendly voice. It helped ground him, remind him that this wasn't the place where all those things had or could happen. A bit of tension went out of his shoulders.

She shrugged on a robe and stood next to his bed, just to make sure he was okay. There was no blood or capekillers, so Amara figured they were all safe. For now. "It's fine, I was half awake myself." Not entirely a lie. "Are you alright?"

He wasn't, that much was obviously, but she had to ask.
