Kitty was no psychic but they had agreed to meet around this time, so she stuck her body, literally, out the door to check. Phasing was so handy. She gave the birthday boy a big smile. It wasn't right to be alone on your birthday-- that just went against everything she stood for.

"Hey! Just give me one sec, okay? It'll be worth it, promise!"

She went back inside and came back out, opening the door this time, holding a tupperware full of green frosted, somewhat weird cupcakes. There were green sprinkles and sugar and candy. Yes, she was going with a theme. Some of the animals included a kitty, dragon, a wolverine, and a phoenix, just to name a few. She liked themes, okay? The middle cupcake, one shaped like a dinosaur, had a candle in it.

"Happy birthday!"

Wow. The phasing was a little unnerving, and the cupcakes were.... Uh. Really elaborate. He wasn't sure whether he should figure her for a total weirdo or feel flattered that something he didn't know had obviously spent a lot of time on him. Or guilty. Guilty could go with that, too.

He laughed a little, reaching up to rub at the back of his neck. "Wow, thanks. That's... Something."

"I like to stay busy," she said easily, "and it didn't look like you had many friends here. It would have been kind of sad if you didn't at least have some sort of birthday cake. Cupcakes. Whatever." Kitty was just that kind of person. She would probably bake a cake for a homeless person if she knew it was their birthday.

"Don't sound too excited now. Well, I guess you're more looking forward to your first legal drink-- I don't blame you."

"No. Sorry. They're nice." And now he felt a little bad for not sounding excited enough. She was doing him a favor, after all, being nice. He should probably put in the effort to be nice, too. "I, uh. Think those are the most elaborate cupcakes I've ever seen, is all."

He shrugged and turned up a smirk. "I am looking forward to the legal drinking, though. Rite of passage, right?" Of course it was!

He leaned forward slightly, looking at the cupcakes and trying to pick up what the bird was supposed to be. "Should I go ahead and blow out the candle before the wind handles it?"
