Aang had been impossibly grateful for being told he could go home early. Going back to work had been a necessity but he still felt a little weak and off and it showed in how he'd been approaching his work. His managers exact words had been 'you look awful, go home', so Aang did.

As he rounded the corner that took him by the bins (looking immensely forward to sitting down in bed with some tea and eating the heaps of thanksgiving leftovers still populating his fridge) he perked up a little at the sight of a familiar face coming along the street from the opposite direction. Was that...

"Peter?"

It took Peter a moment to recognize the voice.  He hadn’t talked to the older Aang all that much and the memories of his time here were a weird mixture of feeling both recent and distant.  Time travelling really, really messed with your head when you only sometimes remembered doing it.

“Hey,” he said, glancing up and doing his best to force a smile.  He wasn’t sure how convincing it was and he really didn’t care.  He thought he’d make the effort to try and appear happy though in case Aang didn’t want to deal with Peter’s numbness.  If the Avatar was anything like his younger self, Peter doubted that was going to happen.

Aang returned the smile but true to form he wasn't fooled for a moment by the wry grin pasted over that tired hollow looking face.

"People were starting to worry." he told Peter as they came within a few paces of each other in the middle of the block. That Azula specifically was worried about him could wait for later...

"Where did you go?" And the more important question... "Are you alright?"

“I went home,” Peter said. He would rather not answer the okay question, he didn’t like lying, and he was definitely not okay. There was just nothing to be done about it right now though.

“Home home. Back to my world.”

One downside of superhuman strength, agility, and the whole shebang, was the super metabolism that went with it. As insane as irradiated spiders causing superpowers sounded, the basic laws of biology still applied. All that energy had to come from somewhere. The plus side was never losing his girlish figure. The drawback being in-costume snack breaks. There was a reason he was famed for knowing every hot dog stand and Chinese take out place in New York.

Tonight was Chinese. Though he'd moved out of the Bins in the past few days, he still had somewhat of a soft spot for patrolling the area. Mostly because, in all honesty, despite the high hero population it needed it. That the place with the best chicken lo mien he'd found yet was right around the corner had nothing to do with it. So Spider-Man was only a block or so away from the former homestead, crouched a story or so up on the side of a building and just digging into his non-home-cooked meal when he spotted the oh-so-familiar face ( ... )

It took Peter a moment to realize the whistle was for him.  He thought about ignoring it, but he was worried that would just make whoever had whistled even more determined to track him down.  Maybe he could just say hi and then be on his way.

When he saw who it was though, he knew there was no chance of that.  There was no way he was not going to pick up on his own mood and let it slide.  He wouldn’t.  Also, Peter realized he needed a better way to refer to his older self because he was confusing himself.

“Hey, didn’t you move into that new exclusive frat joint?” Peter asked, only half joking.

"Yeah. Who knew Thor was also the God of Quarters? Had to give my pride a little time to recover."

He cocked his head, looking down at Little Him. He knew that walk. He'd had it pointed out to him one too many times by his near frighteningly observant wife not to. So it was one of those episodes in the life an times of Spider-Man, was it? He waved with one hand, inviting the little crawler up.

"How do you feel about sesame chicken?"

"I bet he's pretty awesome at mead pong too," Peter said. He didn't even crack a smile though and when he couldn't even get behind his quips, you knew it was bad.

"And I'm not really hungry, but thanks."
