See, I can post something that isn't depressing once every couple of months. I think I'm up to 56 books; it's just taken me a while to do this. I haven't keep notes on the books I've read this year, which made it hard to choose the top five ( Read more... )

Well, I haven't read the book, but I can vouch that the film Winter's Bone is fantastic!

What were your thoughts on A Visit From the Goon Squad? I've been tempted by that book.

I really meant to get back to you on this but I forgot. A Visit from the Goon Squad is well-written and I didn't really dislike it, but it didn't live up to its hype. It jumps around in both time and points of view, making it hard to connect to any one character. It kind of reminded me of grad student creative writing in that it was style over substance.
