Tracey settled into her seat in box where United players wives, girlfriends, parents sat during away games. She thought about inviting Millie to join her, but then thought she'd spend more time talking than watching the match.
The girl from her first match was there; Tracey gave her a nasty look as she took her seat. Merlin, what is she doing here? Before she could say anything else, the game began.
At best, Percy was the most confusedly be-decked spectator ever to grace the stadium, in the lower stands with Cho holding a United penant and wearing an impulse-purchased Harpies shirt. Sense be damned, he was there to cheer himself hoarse.
"Oh, come on, Ginny!" He called, cupping his hands over his mouth to call louder. "Bet you ten gaellons and tomorrow's dishes Harpies score before United." He said to Cho, who was at his side, following the game with almost rabid intensity.
"It's going to be United," said Cho, adjusting her sunglasses. "I don't know what you're talking about."
There was a cry from the crowd -- Oliver's seeker needed to get it together, dear Merlin. She observed this with something of a bitter look, crossing her arms.
Then something more important occurred to her. Cho turned suddenly, squinting at Percy through dark lenses.
Percy smiled slyly, following the game just still talking to Cho--there was a near miss with a bludger and he winced.
"I bet Brody as to whether Ginny would be on the pitch today. He'd didn't think they'd let her play with her arm just recovered." It had been a loosing bet, of course, Percy knew Ginny would be out there if she'd lost a hand. Always bet on family, was his motto. It rarely disappointed.
"I wish I had ten galleons," said Ron dreamily, somewhere to Percy's left.
He was finding it difficult to follow the game:one, because it had occurred to him that Megan still played Quidditch and he wondered if she'd even bother inviting him, two, because Hermione had actually shown up, and three, because the sun kept getting in his eyes and he could hardly see anything anyway. That and he was hungry, which was why he wished he had ten galleons.
Ron thought it should become law that someone always think to send him food; mum had recently sent over muffins, and that had become the core of his sustenance.
"You should bet with me, not your wife. She doesn't need the money."
Cho leaned over Percy to glance coolly at him, lowering her shades.
Unintimidated, Ron nudged his brother. "C'mon. C'mon, please. Blimey -- I'll pretend to support United for a second, even." This required effort. "Yes, go Oliver! Go Oliver's shoddy team!"
"I actually like United," Cho insisted. "Though they're no Tutshill, I admit."
Ginny took off as soon as the quaffle was released, taking a position above the pitch with a flutter in her stomach. She loved the start of a match - hearing the crowd roar, anticipating the snitch, and keeping an eye to the score.
Lee kept his eyes open watching the Harpies pass the quaffle back an forth and the Harpies take a shot, but it's deflected by Wood. United in possession of the quaffle as we head down to the other end of the pitch."
Ginny noted the block, then turned to look at the score. She took a slow lap around the pitch, trying to keep an eye out for the glint of the Snitch, knowing she needed to bide her time. They needed to try and run the score up before she got serious about finding it.
She eyed the United seeker. So far, they seemed to be on the same page.
Up in the air Oliver had given a short wave to his friends in the stands before dedicating himself to the task at hand. There was no way he was going to let the Harpies just have the match. Playing against Ginny Weasley was interesting but not his main concern.
The quaffle came at him but he managed keep it at bay and into the right hands. What a game!>
Since she had seen a preseason game, she was a bit more prepared for the opener. She kept Oliver in the corner of her eyes as the quaffle passed between hands of one team to the other. Watching the action move towards Oliver's end of the field, she cheered along with the rest of her section when Oliver made the save.
He stayed on his game and played to the best of his ability. While Oliver was aware that Tracey was in the crowd, once he got into the game that was the only that mattered in the game. Earlier he had hoped that win or loose he'd be able to take her to dinner. Now he knew that depending on how long the game went would determine his energy level.
Tracey watched the game, still confused slightly. She noticed the name Weasley on one of the kits for the Harpies. Since all the Weasleys were Gryffindors, she wondered how Oliver felt about playing against a former player.
"Go Oliver," she cheered when he deflected another shot.
