Completion: Complete
Dusk had fallen when Dennis finally found a moment when there weren't a load of people visiting the memorial. With his head concentrating on the test that morning and trying to forget that he took it, there really hadn't been time to go the fountain until later. He would have liked to have been able to go to Colin's actual grave, but he couldn't since he was buried in Wales. After Dennis finished his supper, he picked up his bag and headed outside.
The air was cooler as he made his way to the memorial. However, once he got there, he didn't know what to say. It wasn't as if Colin could hear him or anything. "Hiya Colin," he said, putting his bag down, not sure what to say next. He shuffled his feet before sitting down, pulling his knees up. As he wrapped his arms around his knees, he said, "Took my apparation test today. You should have seen it...it was...the fucking most embarrassing moment of my life." Once he started talking, the words didn't stop.
"Plus, Orla was there and...well, I'm kinda glad you weren't there cause knowing you, you would have taken a bloody picture and sent it off to Mum. Do you remember Orla? Ravenclaw. She's my girl now. Bet you never thought I'd say that before you, huh?
"She's brilliant. Smart, pretty, fun. I told her I loved her the other day. Never expected I'd say that to anyone other than family, but I did and I do. She's...God, Colin she's perfect and I don't deserve anyone like her. You'd like her, I'm sure of it.
"Oh, and I've asked Hagrid to be his assistant. Not that he needs one or anything, but he said it was all right. Still need to get permission from Professor McGonagall, but she agreed to a field trip to the Dragon Reserve. Oh, Colin the Reserve was brilliant! Charlie Weasley gave me the idea after he sent me a photo of George and Gracie, the two dragons they captured at the Dairy.
"You should have seen it, the whole operation was brilliant. Charlie said it worked perfectly. I spotted the dragon. Used your camera to take a picture and everything. Orla was jealous when I first told her, but she said it was a great story to tell the birds. You know what, when she said that, she was the only person I had told and the only one I wanted to. Guess I loved her back then.
"Orla thinks I should go work for the Dragon Reserve, which I'm really leaning towards right now. Not that it would really matter to me what creature I worked with as long as I worked with them, you know. Hey, Colin, you know sometimes I wonder what you'd be doing right now. Bet you would have done something with photography. Maybe work for the Prophet, then I'd be seeing 'Photo by Colin Creevey' on the front page every morning. You'd be good at that."
Dennis fell into silence as he sat there at the fountain. "Mum's probably at your grave right now, crying while Dad's got his arm over her shoulder and telling her it's okay. Did you ever get 'The Talk'? Don't think Dad was too thrilled about giving it to me. I didn't realize he was giving it to me until it was too late. Not that I'd go to Dad for advice with the birds. I would have asked you.
"I really miss you sometimes. The Creevey Brothers..." His voice caught in the back of his throat as a few tears fell down his face. Dennis wiped them away and took a deep breath. "Better get going. Got revisions and studying to do." Dennis stood, picking up his bag as he did so. Whispering, he said, "You're the best big brother a bloke could ever ask for."
