The advantage to being nearly as tall as Draco Malfoy, who was certainly not six feet tall despite his contention, was that with heels, she could read over his shoulder. At least she could when he held his shopping list up high like that. Pansy wondered if he didn't need glasses or some such. She could read it just fine. There was no doubt in her mind whose hand wrote that list. The bold, uninspired script even looked bossy.

"Your Mu...ggle-born has you running errands now, I see. Do you pickup her laundry and carry her books, too?" Pansy said, hoping to startle him.

Fingernails on a chalkboard. Squeaky balloons. Bella giggling at the Dark Lord. There were loads of things Draco would have rather heard right that moment than that voice. His shoulders tightened and he unconsciously crushed the shopping list in his fist, a supreme effort of will keeping him from jumping, just barely. His heart did start to race, though, and there wasn't anything he could do about that.

Gathering himself, he turned and gave the tightest of tight smiles. "I do, actually. With pleasure," he said, cool as he could muster. He'd caught the hesitation in her voice when she switched words, and he was almost willing to place a bet that she'd be the sort to do so deliberately, just to make sure he heard it.

"Oh, bravo," Pansy applauded. She wasn't going to give Draco Malfoy the pleasure of seeing how it stung that he'd do for the likes of Granger what he'd never done for her. "I thought you were allergic to catering to women. Then I suppose you've got used to taking orders since we were together." Pansy waved it off, "That's neither here nor there. Water under the bridge and all that. Let me see your list. It appears you're having difficulty sorting it." She reached for what was crumpled in his hand, not really expected him to relinquish it. "I have experience decrypting Muggle."

Draco clenched his jaw, grinding his teeth until he was afraid one might actually crack. "Depends on the woman. I took a lot of orders after we broke up." And the reason he'd broken up with her was because of those orders. More because he was afraid of what ones might involve her if he stayed with her. He'd thought he was protecting her, at the time.

She reached for the shopping list and he released it with a spasm of his fingers, jerking away to keep from touching her. "Experience," he said, managing not to growl at the thought. "Yeah, I've heard you've some of that."
