Charlie checked to make sure he had the dragon hide vest he was giving Ron for his birthday tucked in his pack. Athena had done a nice job wrapping it all up for him. Charlie thought the protective properties of the dragon hide would be useful for an Auror to have under his robes.

Concentrating on his destination, Charlie Apparated to the Burrow. Thankfully, he'd missed landing on one of Mum's chickens that had got out. He tucked the bird back inside the pen and made sure it was secure before trotting up to the house.

"Charlie! Hello love." she greeted her son with a kiss on the cheek as he came into the house. "How are you? Are you hungry? The rest are around here somewhere."

"You look beautiful, Mum." Charlie handed over a vial of dragon's blood. "I thought you might need to clean the oven later. Everything smells amazing. Need help with anything?" Charlie never minded working for his supper. As long as no one asked him to do anything in the kitchen requiring a flame, he was good to go.

She thanked Charlie for the dragon's blood. "No, no I have everything under control for now. Once the rest arrive...you know how it gets."

The day was actually turning out rather well. Ron had gotten there early, and he and his mum had drunk tea before they tackled the project she had in mind. The cake was going to be a larger one, a double stacked affair as there was a possibility of many people stopping by throughout the day. Ron had looked at the recipe and been more than impressed: it had chocolate filling, and layers of orange marmalade cake. And then the final challenge, which Ron knew he was going to watch more than make, was the external decorations, to make it look festive.

Ron had helped with the cake, and then sat back and watched him mom decorate it so it looked like a stack of presents. She'd, of course, made sure there was Canon orange on it, and when it was finished, he'd put his arms around her and given her a big kiss in appreciation. He couldn't have asked for a better morning. His dad then drug him off to the shed, and Ron and Arthur had spent the next hour or so puttering amongst the Muggle items that were collected there. Ron was actually ( ... )

"Ron, dear, it's your day, why don't you go out and go flying for a bit? I have everything here."

"Are you sure about that Mum? I don't much mind helping, honestly," but she did know him better; he'd love to go out and fly a bit. He rose, and moved over to her, and kissed the top of her head, "You've done a great job. Everything looks and smells delicious, as usual."

"Harry, I can't find the box with the pair of Cannons tickets we're giving Ron," she turned around to see him holding up the small box wrapped in blue paper with an orange bow. Hermione had thought Ron would appreciate the colours. "Oh! You have it. Thank goodness. I thought I'd misplaced it and we'd be searching all..." Hermione cut herself off with a blush. "I suppose even if I had misplaced it I could have simply summoned it. Silly me." Frankly, Hermione was a little nervous about joining Ron's family, but if Hermione wanted to keep his friendship, she was going to need to put in some effort to get over her discomfort. Besides which she was looking forward to seeing everyone.

"Ready?" She asked, shouldering her satchel and reaching for a handful of Floo powder.

"Ready," Harry said, giving a nod. "Let's go." He picked up some Floo powder and followed Hermione through to the Burrow.

He was anxious to see Ron's whole family, but also to spend some time with Ginny, if possible. It was nice that her load was lightening a little with practices and games. He felt as if he'd not seen her much all winter and now he appreciated every second he had with her.

He hoped that Hermione and everyone would be able to be comfortable and cordial to each other, especially now that they all knew she was dating Malfoy Draco.

Hermione stepped through the fireplace and moved aside so Harry could follow. "Happy birthday, Ron," she said spotting her friend. "Hello, Mrs. Weasley, Hello, everyone."

Megan finished getting Matt ready, putting a little hat on his head and tying his shoes to put the finishing touches on his outfit. She had never taken him so far from home before but this was a special occasion. She packed a couple of things she figured she'd need for him in a shoulder bag, then picked up Ron's wrapped present (a broom-cleaning kit and a pair of gloves for flying). She smiled at her son. "Ready?" He tilted his head and then grinned and reached for her, scooping him up and balancing him on her hip.

She held him close to her, and did a quick mental check to make sure she had everything. When she was sure of it, she managed to scoop up a handful of floo powder, spoke her destination and clutched Matt tight as they vanished from the fireplace. They arrived at the Burrow, and she stepped out with her giggling baby. She'd been unsure if he would be afraid of Flooing, but he seemed perfectly amused by it all. Megan took a couple of steps further inside and looked around for Ron.

Ron looked up, his broom in his hand as he readied himself to step outside. His eyes widened and his face broke into a large smile at the site of the newest arrivals. He glanced at his friends, "I'm going to have to wait a bit to make it outside I think," and he hurried over to meet her.

He didn't know where to take the baby from her or not, so instead, in front of his family and friends, he put his arms around both of them, and then kissed her briefly on the mouth.

"You made it. I had hoped you'd come, but I wasn't sure," he said, smiling broadly with his arms around her and the baby, "And you brought Mattie! Oh Megan, I'm awfully glad you're here."

He paused and then let her go, and looked to his mum, "Look who's come, Mum. Megan and Mattie," and he grinned broadly.

Megan was glad he came over to her so quickly. She was kind of out of her comfort zone but she was happy to be able to celebrate Ron's birthday. Hopefully she'd be able to get a little closer to his family this way and his friends as well. She really wanted to.

"Of course I'm here," she said, smiling brightly at him as he hugged and kissed her. "Happy Birthday, love." Matt smiled up at him in a similar manner.

As Ron gestured towards his mother, Megan turned to look in her direction as well. "Hello Mrs. Weasley," she said, smiling at her.

Molly turned and greeted the newcomer. "Hello dear. And who is this handsome young man?" she asked waving at the baby.

Athena floo'ed to The Burrow, a small card in her hand with an "I owe you a training session" note inside. She figured that was the best gift Ron would get that he actually needed. "Hello Molly." She said cheerfully, kissing the older woman's cheek.

Smiling, she returned the greeting from Athena. "Glad you could make it. I was trying to send everyone out for some flying."

"Well, I can always go for some flying." She told Molly with a smile, spotting Charlie, her face lighting up just a bit. She'd say hello to him later.
