Dennis was sitting in one of the comfy chairs in the Gryffindor Common Room, re-reading the chapter on sleeping potions. While he was actually working, he didn't feel like it. It was one of those rare moments when he wasn't studying with Orla. His mates tease him about how often he goes and they quote 'Study in the library with Orla'.

Sure he grabs a quick snog now and then, but they actually do study. It's when he's in the Common Room that he doesn't get much done. His mind seemed to wonder around too much. Even now, with his eyes clearly on the book at hand, he was thinking about the weekend and his first morning free without Apparation class or essays to write or Hogsmeade. He was going to help Hagrid again.

He was so looking forward to that, especially because working with Hagrid has given him a bit more confidence about approaching Professor McGongall about an independent study. Also, he thought if Hagrid, the Care of Magical Creatures professor, vouched for him, he could convince the Welsh Dragon Reserve to let him help out that summer. If not, at least come visit once and a while.

Checking the clock on the wall again, Dennis frowned. It was still another hour before Orla was out of class. Looking around, Dennis thought the common room was a tad quiet, but most students were in class or in the library studying. He grumbled at the time and the quietness. Most of his mates where off studying someplace else, which made Dennis miss the days his brother was around. He always had something to do and Dennis never minded following him around.

A sudden sense of melancholy fell over him as he thought about his brother. He had been doing fairly well lately; not feeling so guilty about being so happy. Until now. Maybe it's because I'm bored, he thought as he closed the book. Sighing, Dennis didn't want to be sad about him anymore or study for that matter either. Collecting his books, parchment and quill, he took his things upstairs and stowed them away before grabbing his cloak and heading outside. Perhaps Hagrid would like some company for tea.
