Dennis had just finished studying in the library with Orla and was heading back to the Gryffindor house to drop off some of his books before lunch and his afternoon classes. After checking the time, Dennis decided that maybe after class he'd go visit Bronwyn in the owlry. The more time he spent with his bird the better relationship that would have. He learned that from the diary.
As he walked down the hall, he watched the portraits go about their business. One or two of them waved and Dennis waved back. As he walked up the stairs, he noticed one of them was sleeping. A woman wearing a fox stole was soring away, but that wasn't what made Dennis stop. She had a mustache painted on her face and her fox had horns add to his head. He bit hsi lip to keep from laughing when he heard someone else laughing. Dennis looked around and didn't see anyone.
The laughter caused the woman to wake with a start. She looked down at her fox, noticed the horns before she noticed the hair on her own face. She started to scream and flail her arms around. Dennis burst out laughing and he wasn't the only one. Looking around again, he saw him. Shocked, Dennis said, "Fred?"
The familiar red head looked up and stared Dennis in the face for a moment before looking once to his left and then to his right. He turned back to Dennis and smiled then took off running through the other portraits. "Wait! Fred! WAIT!" He took off after him. Up one set of stairs then down one. He was running and sliding on the floor around the corners when he found himself in an unfamiliar hallway. Still running, he didn't notice anyone else until a cat crossed his path. It wasn't any cat; it was Mrs. Norris. Dennis stopped and looked around for Fred.
There was a painting hidden under a piece of cloth. Staring at the painting he saw a hand wave at him. He smiled and took off in the opposite direction deciding that he could skip lunch. He headed straight to the owlry.
GEORGE
You'll never guess who I saw! I mean, I was walking back to the Gryffindor house from the library, taking the stairs closest to the library. I was heading up the stairs checking out the portraits as I was walking, right? There was a woman sleeping with a mustache! It was a big black one that went from her nose to the opposite ends of the portrait. You should have seen it it was huge. It made her look like...
Sorry, anyways I heard some laughter and it woke the woman up and then she started screaming and flailing her arms around. It was brilliant. Then I was running down the hallway; upstairs, downstairs then I was in Filch's Hallway! I've never been there before. Mrs. Norris caught me running and than I turned and ran to the owlry.
Can you believe it? He was there just like...well I've never seen him like that, but it was him I swear! It was Fred!
