Rosie closed the pub at her normal hour on Christmas eve before going to bed for only a few hours. Waking early, Rosie walked down stairs to heat up the stove before she filled the stockings she had hung over the fireplace. She had a stocking for each of her employees and she filled them with candy and small gifts as well as their end of the year bonuses. Once her gifts were ready, she set off to complete her meal for the day, roast turkey and ham, potatoes, steamed vegetables, stuffing and an assortment of pies and other desserts. It was the holiday and Rosmerta felt everyone should have a place to go, even if their family was far away.
