Hermione had been so furious when she first read Ron's letter that she had considered tearing it up. She hadn't needed the hassle of dealing with Ron's insecurities on top of everything else. She'd pocketed the letter instead in hopes that she could reply rationally once she'd calmed down. It was now a day later and she was still seething every time she re-read what he'd written. It was time to simply deal with it.

Obviously you think you have some right to know. I have no idea where you have gotten this mistaken impression that it is any of your business who I talk to, who I write, or what I do.

Let me make this clear. You do notI do not have to account for myself to anyone, except perhaps my parents, who have always had the good sense to leave me to manage myself. If I allow it now, the next thing you'll be thinking is that you have the right to ask to be told every time I write Viktor, visit Anthony, or have lunch with Neville. That is not going to happen.
