She flushed a little when everyone sang to her. Hermione really wasn't used to anyone making a fuss for her birthday.

The cake had been floated to sit on the table in front of her while everyone sang. They clapped and cheered at the end of the song, then the cheers started, "Blow out the candles!" and Ron wanted to lean over and kiss her on the cheek. She was turning an attractive shade of pink, and he grinned at her like a fool.

She smiled. It was wonderful to see everyone so happy.

Glad to have a relaxed and enjoyable evening with his friends, Harry rubbed the back of his neck and tried to relax his sore muscles. "So, how 'bout some of that cake, then..."
He offered to cut it and handed the first piece to Hermione, then made sure everyone else each had piece, as well.

" Dance?" he asked.

She let him lead her over towards Ron and Luna. "I'll try not to step on your feet," she joked.

Harry grinned. It felt good to have an excuse to be with her in public.

It was nice to spend time with Harry. She felt like life had been so busy lately that their "just snogging" or whatever they were doing had been even more casual (and by casual she meant nonexistent) than before.
It was probably bad manners to sneak away for a snog. Still...
"Think they'd notice if we snuck off?" she whispered, giving him an impish grin. She was half-teasing, since it was Hermione's birthday, but that didn't mean she could share.
