JESUS CHRIST YOU ARE FAST.

This is an ironic statement because, see, I am sure at some point I will get to writing a story about what they were doing while Christ was up and about.

(I am super witty at 5 a.m., yesssss).

ALL MY ANTICIPATION: TOTALLY WORTH IT. Especially War, omg you have made me ♥ War wholly, I am realising now that it is TOO LATE not to.

It is late and I am sleepy and I love it all, but to cherrypick just a couple of lines ( ... )

*cough* I wanted this thing done, okay? It's been sitting half-finished on my hard drive for like two months now, which is just stupid.

But, see, I blame a lot of my hopeless love of War on you. So it is cyclical, like. *wiggly fingers*

Brilliant, specially the footnotes. And you mentioned Shennong. You're my hero.

Thank you so much! I sort of love Shennong; theoretically there is a story in the works where Aziraphale spends a happy five hundred years with him, walking around chewing on various exciting plants. :'D

Please, please, write it! I'd love to read about Aziraphale (Crowley too) around China, I mean, c'mon, movable types! Calligraphy! And corruption in each and every government to make Crowley green with envy!
Have you read 'The dream of the red chamber'? It's quite some 2500 years after Shennong (more or less) but both characters would have enjoyed the time when it was written and would have been a great source of inspiration for the author.

In my head Aziraphale spent a lot of the first millennium A.D. in China, and Crowley dipped in but always ended up leaving in a hurry feeling terribly awkward because I mean: Hell's bureaucracy: SO OUTCLASSED.

I read about half of it a few months ago and then got distracted by something or other. I really need to finish it-- thank you for the reminder! :D

Oh that was cool. Aziraphale's interaction with War was very effective, as was the weaving in of the Nephilim.

I love this fic! The ducks! The beginnings of tea and wine! Aziraphale's thoughts on the heavenly bureaucracy! Crowley being proud of not flinching<3

Your Crowley and Aziraphale ring true to me the whole way through, and I was laughing despite the somber topic. I like your sorta scary maggot-y Crowley; I've always felt like the fandom needs more of that. War and Aziraphale make an interesting twosome. This line was superb: He did his best not to flinch, or lean into the motion.

Wonderful work<3

Thank you so much! I'm especially pleased that the character voices seemed right to you, and that you enjoyed maggoty Crowley. The scene in the book where he turns into a horrible abomination w/ maggots is one of my favorites, and, well, I just couldn't resist. :'D

That scene is one of my favorites too, so I'm glad you used elements from it! :]<3
