nothing to keep me here

I am tired today, exhausted almost to the point of sickness. Absolutely everything hurts, my body a canvas of bruises faded to a spectacular spray of purple and green and yellowy red, my heart a tight and unhappy fist. Depression has closed over me again, a horrid glue I can't wash off without resources I do not have. I am hungry for more than this ( Read more... )

Have you checked out WWOOF? http://www.wwoof.org/index.asp. They have branches in Europe and South America as well.

I've recommended them to a few people int he past, actually, but I've got too many injuries to be as useful to them as they'd want me to be.

There's abundant sunshine here, dearheart. No paying work to speak of, but much to DO. And you wouldn't know anyone but Amber and me - and we could keep it like that if you want. It's very different here. Would a change be as good as a rest? It would be only a matter of getting your wonderful and beloved self here.

As far as I can find, I don't qualify for any of the current US work visas, let alone for residency.

Just a thought - as much as I think it'd be cool for you to be in Seattle - maybe Philadelphia? kylecassidy occasionally takes on interns, or he might know someone who is looking for a creative person/writer/photographer.

Actually, Kyle seems to know everyone, so anyone he could refer you to might be just about anywhere.

For a US work visa, you need to be sponsored by an employer and pass a security check. For residency, you have to be sponsored either by family living in the US or by an employer who wants you (and pass a security check). You would likely need a passport, too but the biggest berrier there is cost (and I bet people would help you with that part of it!). I can't find any further qualifications at the US Department of State and the Homeland Security websites, theough the devil is in the details.

The US consulate can guide you with the paperwork requirements.

You don't need a visa to be a student, or if you enter the US for work lasting less than 90 days, as part of the NAFTA education and temp worker clauses.

I'm trying to follow up a family lead that might take me to Ireland, as one of my grandfather's is from there, but it's been tough going, as it's a branch of the family I'm not very close to. I'm hoping to have more information on citizenship there soon, or even residency, as I'm pretty sure that's all I'd need to move there with.
